My Dad
Dad, You were a man who lived his life for God. Your desire for many years has been to meet your Saviour face to face. Just before 8pm on 14th November 2012, 2 days before your 80th birthday you left us to go meet your Saviour.
For over 50 of those years you taught me so much of God's way. You taught me to pray, you demonstrated God's love in action repeatedly. You taught me to pray for others, to put their needs above my own. You gave me a love of children with disabilities. You supported David and I through our longing to be parents and we know you were delighted when we told oyu we wanted to adopt a child with Special needs. You loved Luke with the same passion you loved all your grandchildren and seeing you wipe the tear from your eye as you said goodbye to him on what would have been his 4th birthday is a memory that will never leave me.
Yet somehow Jonathan was just a little bit extra special. Not that you would ever let anyone see that. But I remember the look in your eye when I showed you his photo. How you measured the length of his legs against the length of his body on that photo with your thumb. Jonathan just had a teeny bit extra of your heart. He is special. I think he has the same extra little bit of his heart for you too. Every day for the last three years Jonathan has asked me, 'Granddad ok?' David told him Granddad has died and gone to live with Jesus that night. Jonathan said, that's good. He hasnt asked since, How's Granddad, Now every day he asks me, Grandma ok? Grandma?
Dad I will always be grateful for oyur love, for your teaching me of Jesus and the importance of prayer.
Thank You for being a man of prayer who prayed so steadfastly for those you knew of, even when you didnt know them personally.
You will never be forgotten!
Love you always Dad
Goodnight, God bless, see you in that glorious morning!
