we have just spent a wonderful weekend at This amazing facility for families with a communcatioin disabled child. The centre is made up of five properties two houses and three bungalows, we had two two bedroom bungalows, each was so spacious, well laid out and well furnished and equipped.
Plenty of room to get the wheelchairs in and room ro relax and play and sleep and bath and shower and cook and eat without getting under anyones feet.....unless your new name is Miss I dont need sleep Rosie and you want to relax and play and explore the bathroom and the lounge and the fridge whilst everyone else is wanting to sleep.
We booked the swimming pool 4-6 on Saturday and had it exclusively for us. Eve had a wonderful time as did the rest of them. Rosie came out straight into a nice warm bath in the hopes she would be sleepy, no such luck!
There was table tennis, table football, snooker, skittles chess and lots of other games to play in the huge play barn, there was Josie's corner, a communal room with fully fitted kitchen, tumble dryer, tables and chairs and games, an elctric piano and an electronic drum kit. A computer and three huge cupboards of games and books and leaflets. Ever need was catered for it would seem...even a coat rack with coathangers which are Rosie's new favourite toy apparantly!
We had a lovely relaxing, allbeit with little sleep, weekend and left this morning by 7.45 to deliver everyone to school. Rosie's feed tube toook it upon itself to burst this morning makiing it impossible to feed her as I hadnt taken a spare, so having dropped Joshua and Christina at school we headed home grabbed a tube and noted the bin bags ripped to shreds and bursting out revolting rubbishe that had blown all over our neighbours front garden...no time to deal with that now two girls to deliver to school and a young man to college.
Arrived at school and they were reluctant to change the tube, I was reluctant to do it for them as they really need the practice and to become confident, but in a hurry really I decided to show them one more time! A quick sit on Rosie, old tube deflated and out, new tube in and inflated release caged bear, AKA Rosie, and on our way!
Arrived at Jonathan's Colege by 10.30 having bought a sandwhich for his lunch at Sainsbury's, as we arrived the Seceratary came out to tell us someone was drilling in the toilet area, Jonathan had been upset by this on Friday so we sat in the foyer to wait for him to finish. Unfortunately the noise travelled and the consistant nature eventually did get to Jonathan and he upturned the table, I managed to catch him and David the table, we sat him down and managed to calm him. THen went to the Horticulture room and closed the door, talking to him constantly about his Duke of Edinburgh award he had collected from school when we dropped Rosie and Eve.
He was very proud of his badge and his folder of evidence so became quite animated talking about it and looking at the pictures!
We left and came home. Waiting for us was a pile of post. Several appointments, a report from the QTVI, (Qualified teacher for the visually impaired), and This......
