Lasting friendships

There are some people who just make wonderful friends. You dont have to live in each others pockets, you dont have to keep in constant touch or count the days since last made contact. Noone keeps a tally of who initiated contact last time...it is just when you hear their voice you carry on where you last left off.

Julia is such a friend. We were friends for a long time when we lived in walking distance, we saw a fair bit of one another and would easily call on one another for a ocffee, chat in the playground, go shopping together. Each would at the drop of a hat step in to fetch the others child from school or care for them before school.

It was Julia who came to help us fnish the packing and load the lorry and who waved us off the day we moved.

It was Julia who sent a package through the post once we were well installed amongst the boxes in our new house...in the package were bird seed and feeder, Household gloves, a bottle of Cillit Bang. seeds for the garden, tea bags, Oh and of course chocolate and a magazine for me!!!

It was Julia who remembered I had an appointment in Great ormond Street hospital and came to meet us and had lunch with us.

It had been a long time since either of us had called when one evening about a month ago I ansered the phone to that familiar voice and we made arrangements for she and Katie to come and visit. Katie and Christina were friends from toddler group, had gone through toddlers togehter and then although in different years at school they remained great friends.

And so it was with mounting excitement this weekend approached. The eventful journey to and from the coach park did nothing to dampen my excitement at spending time with my friend. Christina was totally unaware of who was coming.

And then they were here! It was once again as if we had just pocked up from where we left off. We talked constantly all weekend. We spent SAturday in a local factory outlet village, there were new attractions there which added great interest for all of us, but it was just being together and friendship that mattered.

All too soon it was Sunday Mornign and plans were afoot to take them home. Christina and Joshua were dropped off at Nic's as Christina had a reading to do in Church and Joshua did not want to miss another week at Church. Then we headed a different route into Peterborough and managed to arrive with plenty of time for a relaxed cup of tea togehter and then it was time to take them to the bus stop!

We waved them goodbye...with such wonderful memories to keep us going until we meet again!

The sun shone all weekend, The children played with no fall outs. memories of other friends back there are brought to life again and my heart is full!

Thanks for comuing Julia and Katie, it was a wonderful time....I hope our short nights did not spoil your enjoyment!

Much love
