Have I ever told you how much Rosie is loved by our Church?
This morning I had good reason to be so hankful for that love!
Paul tells us love is gentle, love is kind.......love suffers much????
yes well Sue I knew how much you love Rosie...but how about the lady who sits just behind and to our left???? yes she is hapy for Rosie to share her Hymn book I know but wil she tolerate sharing a handful of hair? Rosie decided to test that out this morning and it would seem although I am certain she would rather have kept that handful to herself for Rosie she will do anything!
Ok Rosie so surely that is enough evidence to show how much you are loved....NO? So was it really air to pick for your next handful of hair the head of the visiting elderly lady trying to observe you with concern rather than fascination...she really was not being rude you know, your head bangong throwing yourself to the floor and grabbing of handfuls of hair was something the poor lady had not ever seen the like of before! oh Rosie....you didn't have to demonstrate your strengh of grip on hair quite so deliberately for her benefit you know!
The only time you semed anything like calmer was during the singing even then you only managed to hold your agitation in check for half the time choosing to throw my glasses and ear my hair atempting to then remove my eyes too.
And so I joined you in Sunday school..spending the time learning about the trinity, three parts of one. you seemed to enjoy the making of th etrinity bracelets....well once we had removed the scissors from your grasp, persuaded you the thread was not for eating and allowed you to exploor the bottom of the bag of chocolate buttons so you would believe that they had all gone!
Once the service was over and your friend Sarah came to sit with you I ventured back to the Church to find the visiting lady and appologise for your atentions...she was very gracious in her assurances that she really hadn't minded and felt welcomed in that you didn't avoid her, She obviously felt the churches love for you in the total acceptance from everyone else of your bizarreness!
And so when Jo asked
"Where is Rosie this morning? Is she still in respite?"
The roar of laughter from those in earshot was balm to my wounded heart and not salt in the wound!
I never really graspd whether this lady was late to arrive and missed the escapades or was so deeply immersed in her worship she was truly unaware. Hoever her genuine words of:-
"Oh we do miss Rosie so much when she is not here, she has brought so much love to our fellowship and truly is a blessing."
Were said with heartfelt love and kindness and were not one tiny bit patronising.
The nods and verbal confirmation that responded left me feeling the suffering of both Rosie and myself were worth it just to reaffirm God has brought us to this place!
"And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me." Matthew chapter 18 v 5
