The School show was just brilliant. It started with the oldest children as Angels....they were all dressed in white...and sat along the front whilst a video played of them performing to music...sounds a strange concept???? It worked brilliantly. The first song was a Phil Collins number...neither David nor I can actually remember the song but the children's movement and action to it was perfect. Showing their love and care for one another and the way they interact with their peers and their staff. Then it moved on to the Song that says....I'm loving Angels instead. This was totally amazing. The children had been filmed in interaction with each other and with the staff...in ones and twos, then dancing with net curtain type material making it look like Angel wings...their was real love and compassion and caring shown in the interaction and it really had the tears streaming down my face as it epitomised the ethos of the school. The total acceptance of the children for who they are. The true love of the staff for their charges. Amazing....and the children say there dressed as Angels enjoying every moment of watching their performance!
The school went through their performance class by class...Class 3 did a performance based on the Snow Man...beautiful movement to music and great fun...Father Christmas was a little overwhelmed at one point and began to cry...the staff were able to reassure him enough for him to continue his part and to take his bow.
Class 2 did a performance of the farmyards Christmas Dinner...The Audience were encouraged to join in with the song of each animals job on the farm....
There was a pig went out to dig
On Christmas Day on Christmas day
there was a pig went out to dig
On Christmas Day in the morning
the crow went to sow
the drake went to rake
the Cow went to plough
and on and on for the seven children in the class until we came to Turkey
The turkey was named Perky....and he ended up on the Christmas Table.....to great laughter and applause!
Class 1 was left to perform the Nativity...from the view point of an Owl....led by a Star...and who was the Star???? Eve of course!
She came in dressed as a Star....with Stars on her Wheelchair and her one to one dressed in star bedecked clothing! A great big smile out dazzling the sparkling lights! She enjoyed herself and the little ones did really well....Kings and Shepherds all came to visit the Manger whilst owl took it all in from his perch inside the Stable looking at the Baby Jesus!
It was good....a good escape from the difficulties.
Thanks Darren and Staff you do a great job!
