Its a Shame but....

Placing your Mobile phone in your Jeans pocket is not a good idea!

Putting those same jeans in the wash without first checking the pockets is even less of a good idea!

Mothers please note, telling your children to be sure to empty their pockets before putting clothes in the wash does not ensure that all pockets are therefore empty when they arrive in the washbasket!

Finding remnants of tissue in your washing machine and all over the clothes is sureley evidence of the futility of the request???

So when ironing and you find a lump in a pocket you can be sure it will be the remains of something less disposable than a paper handkerchief.

Recent pocket finds in our house:-

Yellow reward card belonging to Joshua!

result?????
it faired reasonably well actually and a little sticky tape brought most pieces of it back into enough order for all reward stamps to remain valid.

Phew one very relieved young man!

Coins numerous...all end up in my purse! Put your clothes into my washbin with money in the pockets and I assume it is a tip for me, for being so nice to you in washing your clothes....thank you!

£20 I have to assume this was from David's pocket, no one else in this household has £20 notes to leave in pockets...whats his is mine and whats mine's me own!

Screws/washers/drill bits....hmmm just thankful they remained in the drum and did not end up causing damage...culprits? various...I did some washing for the resident builders and David often has these in his pockets...no proof of whose they came from so I will just be glad they caused no damge then! they mostly ended up in the bin unless I suspected it would be an expense to replace them!

This then brings me to this weeks findings!

Now Joshua! When Mum tells you the last she saw of something was you putting it into your trouser pocket you stand more chance of saving face if you check said pocket before declaring:- you did no such thing and it must have been removed from your bag by some fiend!

Maybe? before you let yourself turn the whole room upside down and drive yourself and everyone else insane with your searchings? it would be well for you to think back to which trousers you were wearing and check the pocket.

Maybe before you find yourself choking back tears as you realise that without that little piece of red card you will inevitably end up in detention, just maybe it would be prudent to go check the trousers????

OK so when Mum checks the trousers and finds the red card survived the washing machine, with very little to show for it, you should be grateful for the little plastic pouch the red card lives in and maybe even a tad grateful to Mum for hobbling downstairs, rummaging through the ironing mountain and retrieving the red card from the pocket you insist she deffinitely could not have seen you put it in two and a half weeks ago!

(hmmm maybe if Mum had not let the washing and ironing fester for two weeks it would have been found sooner. Or, maybe it would have been found put somehwere never to be seen again...maybe thank Mum for not having processed the ironing mountain before Iris came!)

And so to tChristina's jeans! The very hard lump in the jeans pocket!

Lets just say mobile phones are deffinietly not machine washable....even at 40 degrees on a quick wash! Even when they were line dried rather than tumble dried!
A few days on the radiator and charging up did not help to revive the thing!

Thank Goodness then for Nannys, who send pocket money every so often that just happens to be enough to replace the phone for something slightly more classy! And thankgoodness for Ebay sellers who get said phone in the post to arrive before we go to Rainbows!

One happy little girl again!

Wonder if either of them have learnt to empty their pockets before putting the clothes in the wash!
I dont suppose so!

What a giggle at the things you manage to find in your wash! I too seem to find things that shouldn't be there, which can be fun sometimes!!

Hope Christina enjoys the new phone, and doubt she'll repeat that again!

I loved that!

I needed something to cheer me up after this lovely couple of days.

Of course I never leave anything in my trouser pockets, especially twenty pound notes.

She gets them long before they they get there...
