A Busy Life

Half term has been and almost gone. We didnt really manage to do anything remotely holiday like. We have got some ceilings up! We have got some partitions up and we have had a guest stay in the new room upstairs! Woo Hoo!
Ok so said guest was actually the builder who had called in on his way home from Mummy's far up north...He had come to offer his skills free of charge just to help David accomplish the things that were not easily accomplished alone! How kind was that?
When he arrived David and Joshua were busy trying to get enough florr down in the spare room to put the airbed up on....they managed to do 95% of the floor so it was safe and deceptively roomy! So the guest room has been christened!

Betweent them they have put ceiling uop in the utility and boarded the walls where the Chimney came out. Put the rest of the ceiling up in Jonathans room, almost finished the ceiling in the lounge and put the most difficult pices of plasterboard partition up for our bathroom...making it nigh on impossible now for anyone to accidentally fall of the upstairs floor!

It was good to see him and his help was very appreciated and now he is gone! We did extend a welcome to him to visit anytime he needed a bed overnoght on the way to or from his Mum's I hope he takes us up on it, Meantime if anyone needs a builder....I know a great one...he works well is not afraid to seek advice when he doesnt know for sure and is keen to get things right by keep checking! He will move in and become an extension of your family....he eats extremely well! Nothing is wasted! Lol Thanks Nick you have been a great friend as well as a builder!

And so we are now hopefully nearing the end! We spent last evening until 11pm turned mixing and pouring leveling compound on Jonathan;s floor....it is looking much better now! Just hoping upon hope that the building control people do not make us take it up! It looks as if it is going to be Ok! We finished the last of the floor this morning and hopefully will be looking to lay the laminate on Tuesday! We are looking forward to the day that Jonathan goes off to school and comes home to find his bed moved in! Not long now I am sure!

David's second job of today was to put in the last radiator! Had a sticky miserable moment when the last joint leaked like a leaky sieve! actually no it leaked like a turend on tap! Three times he redid it before realising the rubber washer was missing from the joint! ARGGHHHH at least it was easily resolved with a new fitting and bingo our heating is finished and the house is warm! In fact it has been amusing to see people coming in and removing jackets whilst stating with a large pinch of incredulity...My it is so warm in here! Lol it was not so long ago people felt it was probably warmer outside than in when the ground was frozen solid!

So what have we left to do?
Jonathan;s room.....laminate floor, New door to enter the room, door on the wet room! small area of ceiling still to artex and paint and then move in! OOOH Curtains too almost forgot!
Utility room needs the stop cock on the incoming water pipe changing...a job we have been putting off for a long time! the old soil pipe needs capping of and leveling...then the floor needs leveling and laminating....then the whole place decorating! Probably a cheap Anaglypta and some left over paint lurking in the workshop! Just to keep it clean looking! The worktop ove rhte washing machine needs fixing and then the tumble drier can be lifted up leaving plenty of floor space for built in fish tank, rabbit cage and guinea pig cage!
Lift area needs decorating! the back of the lift needs partitioning in...then Rosie and Eve's room needs tackling! Not sure what we need to do in their before Jonathan comes out...hopefully we will be inspired when we can actually see the room again!
The lounge needs some areas plastering, the ceiling artexing and then we need to look at decorating.
Our room....well....it is a total dumoing ground right now! The new area for the bathroom needs finishing partioning off then we need to look at furnishing the bathroom...I have seen some nice shower come bath efforts but have not seen the cash that would pay for them! We wont be rushing into anything just yet...let time go by and the rest of it get sorted then we will look at what we can afford! Just to get the floor back in place and the wardrobes back to the walls will be good!
The new passage way needs window boards, the window needs plastering round the infil and then decorating! The new room needs a door, a window board and plastering round the window, the room then needs decorating and laminat on the floor. A wash basin to be put in and then decide whether Eve is to move up there or not. We will see!
Through then to Joshua's room...he needs a wall as at present he is extending his bedroom to incorporate the landing where the lift comes up...anyone passing from our room the stairs or the guest room to the bathroom will effectively pass through Joshua's room! Then we need to work out what can fit in his room and what needs a new home! The passage way then needs desigingin flooring and decorating. The bathroom now has a hoist but no electric to it, the rest is finished in there. Christina's room is the only completed room in the house!
Externally we still have to point Jonathans room. The external drainage needs finishing, and then the garden putting back to some sort of pleasant landscape! and we hope to create a new drive away from some of the mud!
So we are almost nearly there!
Hugs!
