We made an error yesterday...forgot about Jonathan in our equations for the morning plan!
It all seemed so easy, Appointment at Joshua's school then on to the Hospice..it was all in the same direction so not a problem. Rosie was off to school on her bus, get Joshua and Christina to gather themselves and their belongings into the bus, load up Eve and we would be off....however we had forgotten about Jonathan whose taxi arrives at around 9.05.
I realised this error at 7.45 am we needed to leave the house at 8.15 am what was I to do?
I had one chance of rescue...Our trusty Minister...a text plea resulted in a phone call a few minutes later and all was sorted!
So we headed off to school and had time to sit and wonder how a 9am appointment could possibly be running so late....we eventually got in to see Joshua's tutor at 9.15 By the time we came out we knew how the time was getting behind we had caused a considerable back log, It was interesting to see that the subjects Joshua struggles with are the ones with limited information and Bizarre levels.
We refused to sign the IEP without talking to the teachers involved.
Joshua;'s tutor is really nice though and obviously cared about Joshua. She was efficient and had tried to be up to speed on his difficulties without pretending she knew more than she did. She also acknowleged that she sometimes forgot to get things organised for him in time.
We looked at the concerns Joshua has about some of the PE lessons,, Football in particular. Joshua does not see the ball in time to react and kick it effectively, His joint problems make him wary of running/tackling/being tackled on a muddy field and he is picked on by some kids for being useless. He admits he is useless but doesnt need to be teased about it. So Tutor is going to look at an alternatice curriculum for him for the PE lessons he is uncomfortable with. There is much he will attempt and rarely lets his physical difficulties affect what he tries so I know this must be a real worry to him.
We eventually got on our way at 9.45 the journey to the Hospice was lovely apart from the thick fog that engulfed us periodically. We were parking outside by 10.55 so a much better journey than previously.
We managed to find our way into the wrong building and confused the receptionist at the adult hospice, but soon rectified the situation and were met by the Nurse I had spoken to on the phone a week ago. We immediately felt welcomed and were ushered into the lounge where we could sit and relax and talk through our fears, anxieties, the difficulties we had encountered at the previous Hospice the lack of support for Joshua and Christina and our desperate need for somewhere we could plan to be for end of life care.
One of our most pressing needs was for a place that could actually attend to Eve properly with all her medical needs as they progress and develop. We were assured that they could do the medical interventions that were not possible at the other hospice that was a huge weight off our minds.
We looked around the rooms and ooohed and ahhed at all the decorations and facilities. My favourite being the shower room that has a monopoly board painted on the ceiling and the top of the walls. Fantastic.
We went up in the lift to the parents accomodation and were pleased to see there was a cooker and washing machine so if we wished we could cater for oursleves up there. The rooms were big and airey and comfy.
On returning to the ground floor we faced our fears and went into the Bereavement suite. The bed had a Winnie the Pooh Blanket.
By this time we knew we wanted to transfer and we returned to the lounge to fill in the forms.
Once the paper work was finished we said our goodbyes and left to find some lunch. We had been offered Sandwhiches but with David's Cieliac it wasnt possible, also we had seen a Pub with a carvery offer on just down the road so we headed there for a wonderful lunch before leaving in time to get back for the kids.
Now we have to write to our existing Hospice to tell them we want to move, Then I have to go through the end of life care plans again to change the wording to transfer here instead of there. There are other things I need to change too and things i want to put in...I cant quite prepare myself to tackle either yet.
Meanwhile David's leg is still needing packing and dressing daily and my joints are protesting at the extra work and little rest.
Today will be an as alittle as possible day. However we have a bath being delivered the old one collected and David has to go to the Doctors. I hope thre is something in the freezer I can cook for tea and tomorrow I must tackle shopping!
Still busy with little to show for it!
I know Cia would appreciate your prayers right now, she ahs been admitted to hospital with severe back pain and reduced movement in her legs...awaiting an MRI scan result to know what they plan.
Thanks
